This series links four generations of my family- my Nan, Mum, myself and my daughter. Taking this family structure as its backbone, the work expands outwards through photographic projects to encompass social alongside personal concerns. The Ten Years of the title are 1996 to 2006. This time period encompasses four pivotal personal events - starting with the birth of my daughter, and graduating from art college in 1996; the death of my Mother in 2000; and ending with the death of my Nan Noreen in 2006.
Currently I am reflecting on the life of my Nan. So far this has lead to three pieces - Introducing Noreen, My Nan’s Best Teapot and The Last Teacup; and the planned piece For Best. Taking Noreen’s Kitchen as the starting point these pieces are exploring aspects of my Nan’s life, personality and death.
